SAN BERNARDINO – San Francisco State made the most of their few scoring opportunities Friday to leave Cal State San Bernardino with a 2-0 CCAA men's soccer victory over the Coyotes.
Goals by Sergio Villalva in the first half and Antonio Ugarte near the end of time improved the Gators to 5-5-1 overall and 3-4 in the CCAA North Division while the Coyotes slipped to 4-6-1 overall and 3-3-1 in the CCAA South Division.
The Coyotes fired off 21 shots and Gators goalie Israel Cisneros stopped 10 of them, five in each half. SFSU had just seven shots in the match but the two that counted put them in the victory column.
Villalva scored his second goal of the season off an assist by Robert Maeda at the 30:29 mark of the first half. Ugarte notched his fifth goal of the season at 80:37 finishing off a pass from Dylan Glass.
The Coyotes host Cal State Monterey Bay at 11:30 a.m. Sunday while the Gators play at Cal Poly Pomona.
