Cal State San Bernardino's men's soccer team will close out its 2008 season Friday and Sunday at home against UC San Diego and Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The team is playing for pride since it is unranked in the NCAA West Region and the four teams that will compete in the CCAA conference championship tournament have already qualified.
The Coyotes are 1-4-1 over their last six matches and are 6-10-2 on the season, 5-5-2 in the CCAA.
UCSD, a team that the Coyotes thrashed 3-0 in La Jolla on Sept. 28, comes into
Coyote Premier Field with a 9-5-2 overall record, 5-5-2 in the CCAA and tied with the Coyotes for third place in the South Division. The Tritons are ranked No. 6 in the West Region so they could be bumped if they are unsuccessful against CSUSB and Cal Poly Pomona this weekend.
The Toros, 15-2-1 overall and 9-2-1 in the CCAA, are ranked No. 1 in the NCAA West Region poll and No. 4 in the nation. According to the CCAA conference office, the Toros, Cal State L.A., Sonoma State and Chico State have qualified for the conference tournament regardless of the outcome of this weekend's contests.
Dominguez Hills edged the Coyotes 1-0 in their meeting in Carson on Sept. 26.
CSUSB VS. UCSD – Tritons lead the series 14-11 with four ties.
CSUSB VS. DOMINGUEZ HILLS – Toros dominate the series 22-6 with four ties. The last Coyotes win was 3-2 in overtime in 1999.
