Coyotes sweep Sonoma State 3-0

Volleyball team now 10-0 overall, 2-0 in CCAA

    For the second straight match, it was a freshman who led Cal State San Bernardino.
    Jane Chafeh, a six-foot outside hitter from Fontana, pounded home 18 kills on .375 hitting with only six hitting errors in 32 attacks as the Coyotes disposed of Sonoma State, 3-0, (30-12, 30-24, 30-26) in Coussoulis Arena.
    CSUSB is now 10-0 overall and 2-0 in the CCAA conference.
    Backing up Chafeh were senior middle blocker Sharea Drawn and junior right side hitter Jessica Granados with 10 kills apiece. Granados also contributed 14 digs for a double-double and had four service aces to boot.
    Coyotes sophomore setter Sara Hoffman logged 40 assists while libero Meghan Haas had 16 digs. Sophomore Ashtin Hall contributed eight kills, seven service aces and five digs. The Coyotes had 17 aces as a team. CSUSB's defense limited SSU to just .072 hitting.
    CSUSB's record since the start of the 2006 season is now 37-2 as the team heads into a battle of Inland Empire top teams at Cal Baptist on Sept. 13.
