Visiting Cal State Stanislaus and Cal State San Bernardino battled for 110 minutes Sunday and neither team had anything to show for it as the California Collegiate Athletic Association men's soccer match ended in a 0-0 tie after two overtime sessions.
The only good thing about the ending was that both teams picked up a point in the standings.
The Coyotes are now 2-7-2 overall and 0-4-2 in the CCAA while Stanislaus is 2-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in the conference.
Warriors goalkeeper Mando Herrera recorded his fifth shutout of the season and made a couple of spectacular saves among the six shots on goal he thwarted. Coyotes keeper Lucas Pepi also recorded a shutout, making five saves over four periods of play. Pepi made the last outstanding play, leaping to tip a hard shot by Stanislaus' Lyle Beck over the cross bar just 25 seconds from the end of regulation.
Stanislaus had 17 shots to 13 for the Coyotes but CSUSB had a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
