Ernesto Madrigal-Rodriguez joined CSUSB’s Athletic Department in 2019 as the Lead Play-by-Play Announcer and can be heard on
CCAAnetwork.com calling all CSUSB home games with play-by-play commentary as well as interviews with players and personnel.
Ernesto graduated from CSUSB in 2020 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies and an emphasis in Media. He continued his studies at Syracuse University, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Communication Studies with a focus in Journalism Innovation in the spring of 2023.
In his first season in 2019, Ernesto was on the call during volleyball’s historic 33-0 season, which culminated in CSUSB’s first team national championship in school history.
Ernesto has been a sports fan all his life. An uncle of his recalls that when Ernesto was 5 years old, he knew every player on a particular soccer team.
“My goal here at CSUSB for every single game is to be a storyteller for the viewer at home. It’s my responsibility to be that bridge between the game and the viewer at home. There are so many wonderful talented players across CSUSB and other schools. I want to make sure you know these players on a deeper level. I also want to provide enthusiasm for every single play because the players and coaches deserve that.
