J. Paul Vicknair joined CSUSB Athletics as the Faculty Athletic Representative in the fall of 2018.
Vicknair was new to the role, but certainly not to Coyote Athletics or CSUSB. He has been a professor in the CSUSB Department of Mathematics since 1982, in addition to serving in a variety of capacities within the institution.
In addition to his roles as assistant professor, associate professor, and professor, he has served as the Chair of the Mathematics Department, Dean of the College of Natural Sciences, Associate Provost for Academic Personnel, and the Interim Chair of Nursing. He has also maintained a connection to CSUSB Athletics throughout the years.
Vicknair served on the Athletic Advisory Board in the past, keeping the academic side of the campus updated and connected on athletic news, in addition to assisting with fundraising opportunities. In his role as FAR, Vicknair hopes to connect closely with student-athletes on a more permanent basis.
He is also a longtime long-distance runner and is still active with his fitness to this day. Vicknair hails from Louisiana and holds bachelor’s, master’s, and his doctorate degrees in mathematics from LSU. He lives locally in San Bernardino.Â
