    2008: Alvarez competed in all eight meets for the Coyotes. Her best 5K time was 20:48 at the UC Riverside Highland Invitational. She posted a season-best 25:32 time for 6K at the CCAA championship meet. She was voted to the college division ESPN-The Magazine all-West Region Academic Team for track and cross country for the second straight year.
    2007: Alvarez competed in all seven meets as a sophomore. Her best time at 5K was 20:16 at the UC Riverside meet while her best time for 6K was 23:42 at the NCAA West Regional in Boise, Idaho. She was voted to the ESPN The Magazine all-District 8 academic team in track/cross country in the college division.
    2006: She competed in six meets, finishing 53rd in the CCAA conference meet. Her best 6K time was 26:03. Her best 5K time was 20:38 at UC Riverside.
    HIGH SCHOOL: Alvarez ran track and cross country at Twentynine Palms High School. She was the "runner of the year" in cross country and set a school record for 800 meters in track and served as team captain for two years.
    PERSONAL: She is a nursing major who plans to become an RN and eventually attend veterinary school looking toward a career as a veterinarian. She has volunteered her time at Special Olympics. She enjoys hiking, camping and going to the beach.
Her parents are Eva and Tim Stanford. She has three siblings.
