Biography

2009: In his first season at Cal State San Bernardino, Torres batted .284 in 40 games, starting 27 times in the outfield. He had three doubles, three triples, four homers among his 29 hits and drove in 22 runs, third best on the team. He scored 20 times. He handled 69 chances in the outfield for a .971 fielding percentage.
    
BEFORE CAL STATE: He played two years of baseball at Southwestern College with teammate Daniel Stenavich and Jorge Dryjanski, a member of the 2009 Coyotes team.
    
HIGH SCHOOL: The 2006 graduate of Otay Ranch High School in Chula Vista played four years of baseball, earning all-league and "athlete of the year" honors and team MVP honors. He also played four years of football and was a two-time, first-team all-league selection as a linebacker and was the 2004 defensive player of the year.
    
PERSONAL: Torres is a kinesiology major who would like to play professional baseball. In his spare time, he enjoys watching TV, listening to music, collecting baseball cards and working on the computer. His parents are Luis and Ines Torres. He has four siblings.
    
MOST MEMORABLE SPORTS MOMENT -- Robbing a San Diego Mesa College player of a three-run homer that would have stopped us from going to the state JC playoffs in 2007.
    
FAVORITES: TV program -- Fresh Prince of Bel-Air; Movie -- Terminator series.
