As a Junior (2011): Appeared in 11 games with 10 starts for the Coyotes... Went 3-5 6.11 ERA in 45 2/3 innings... Struck out 31 with 21 base on balls... Allowed 57 runs (40 earned) and scattered 57 hits... Allowed 13 extra-base hits (9 doubles, 4 HRs)... Threw 5 innings with 4 strikeouts in 8-3 win over Cal Baptist... Followed that up with a 5-inning, one-hit win at Dixie State... Earned 3-2 win at Cal State East Bay with 5 1/3 inning, 4-strikeout effort.

At Riverside Community College: Went 1-2 with a 5.52 ERA in 31 innings in 2010... Appeared in 15 games with two starts... Struck out 17 and walked just eight.

At Cal Poly Pomona: Went 2-1 with a 6.14 ERA in 29.1 innings pitched for the Broncos in 2009... Appeared in 15 games with five starts... Struck out 15 and walked 20... Gave up 32 hits.

At Hart HS: Three-year starter… Team reached CIF quarterfinals his senior season and won the Foothill League title… Team also earned CIF All-Academic honors.

Personal: Son of Shawn and Michele McCarthy… Criminal Justice major, who enjoys water skiing, snow boarding, karate in his garage with teammate Cory Caruso and watching COPS.
