SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team took down San Francisco State University 73-60 Sunday afternoon in a CCAA contest at the Don Nasser Family Plaza.
With the victory, the Coyotes improve to 6-7 overall on the season and 3-3 in the CCAA.
The Coyotes scored the game's first seven points on the day, and never trailed again. Sophomore
Aidan Fowler (San Clemente, Calif.) capped the game-opening run with a 3-pointer, putting CSUSB up by three possessions just over two minutes into the game.Â
Cal State San Bernardino led by as many as 13 on a couple occasions in the first half, but the Gators narrowed the deficit to just six at 31-25 by the halftime horn. Coyote redshirt senior
Gavin Davis (Carson, Calif.) led all players with 10 first half points, while pulling down four rebounds, all on offense.
The Coyotes got back to work early in the second half, building up their largest lead of the game at 16 points six and a half minutes into the period after a Davis triple put the Yotes up 50-34. Cal State San Bernardino would never lead by less than 12 points for the balance of the contest, cruising to the conference victory.
Davis finished as the game's leading scorer with 19 points, while Fowler posted 17. Coming off the bench, freshman
Xavier Clinton (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) had a strong evening with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
Next up for the Coyotes, they return from their road trip to host Cal State San Marcos on Thursday evening at Coussoulis Arena. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
