Men's Basketball Takes Down Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino men's basketball team defeated the Stanislaus State Warriors on Saturday afternoon at Fitzpatrick Arena, 92-75.

With the win, the Coyotes finish the regular season with a 21-10 record and a 14-8 mark in CCAA play.

The game was close early, but the Coyotes gained control after a 9-0 run, highlighted by three three-pointers - two from graduate student Evan Oliver (San Bernardino, Calif.) and one from senior Jordan Jones (Macon, Ga.).

CSUSB maintained a steady lead throughout, with senior Nic Welp (Seattle, Wash.) contributing 12 points in the first half. Stanislaus State narrowed the Yotes' lead to just one point at 37-36 with just under four minutes remaining in the first half.

The Coyotes responded with a 13-0 run to close the half, capped by one of Oliver's four first-half three-pointers at the buzzer, giving CSUSB a 50-36 lead heading into the break.

In the second half, CSUSB kept the momentum going. Senior Andrew Henderson (Chatsworth, Calif.) completed a three-point play early in the half, adding a layup and a foul shot. He finished just shy of a double-double, with 15 points and nine rebounds. Charlie Henderson (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) contributed 10 of his 15 points in the second half, while Jordan Jones added 12 of his 19 points after halftime.

Despite trailing by as many as 18 points, the Warriors cut the Yotes' lead to just seven, 78-71 with 4:41 left to play. However, CSUSB responded with a 14-4 run to finish the game and secure the win.

The Coyotes took excellent care of the ball, committing just seven turnovers, tying a season-low. In contrast, they forced the Warriors into 16 turnovers, resulting in a +9 turnover margin. All five starters—Oliver, Jones, Welp, Andrew Henderson, and Charlie Henderson—scored in double figures.

Next, CSUSB will face the No. 6 seed Cal State Los Angeles in the first round of the CCAA tournament on Thursday as the No. 3 seed. Tip-off is set for noon at Cal State San Marcos.
