SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - The California State University San Bernardino Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the addition of Spanish language broadcasting to its list of live game streaming.
The initiative aims to create a more inclusive atmosphere for our diverse fan base and ensure that Spanish-speaking audiences can fully engage with the excitement of Cal State San Bernardino athletics.
"The addition of Spanish language broadcasts is a tremendous step forward for CSUSB, especially as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI)," said CSUSB vice president for student affairs Dr. Paz Olivérez. "It not only reflects our commitment to inclusion but also strengthens our ability to engage and support our diverse student population and their families. By breaking language barriers, we're creating more opportunities for the entire Coyote community to feel connected and proud of our athletics programs. This initiative aligns with the Division of Student Affairs' mission to foster a sense of belonging for all students."
"We are dedicated to making our events accessible and enjoyable for all fans," said Cal State San Bernardino Director of Athletics Shareef Amer. "By providing Spanish language broadcasts, we are proud to honor our commitment to inclusivity and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of Yotes fans everywhere."
Alex Naveja, who began calling games for CSUSB last winter, and recent CSUSB Palm Desert Campus graduate Gustavo Rosario will each be on the Spanish call for the Coyotes, and occasionally serve as color commentator to longtime English play-by-play broadcaster Ernesto Madrigal-Rodriguez. The team will broadcast CSUSB soccer, women's volleyball, basketball, baseball, and softball home games.
"The Multimedia and Immersive Technology department within Information and Technology Services recognizes the importance of broadcasting sports content in Spanish to better serve, inform, and entertain the Hispanic community," said James Trotter, CSUSB's director of multimedia and immersive technologies. "As an HSI, it is crucial for us to connect our community. By broadcasting athletic events in both Spanish and English, we aim to make CSUSB a more welcoming and inclusive institution. We are excited to leverage our technology to support CSUSB's sports programming and enhance its reach."
The addition of the Spanish-language broadcast coincides with the introduction of the CCAA on FloSports. When selecting which game fans want to watch, they will have the option to select the English or Spanish feed. To register for the CCAA on FloSports, visit goccaa.org/flosports.
Cal State San Bernardino is believed to be the first Division II institution to produce both English and Spanish broadcasts for all sports in-house.
