LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Cal State San Bernardino men's basketball team faced a challenging 85-95 defeat against Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, bringing their conference record to 5-2 and overall record to 10-3.
The game was bound to be a formidable match up, as the Yotes were the best defensive team in the CCAA and faced the Golden Eagles, boasting the best offense in the CCAA. Cal State San Bernardino entered the game as the top defensive team in the conference, ranking No. 6 nationally with an average of 61.9 points allowed per game. Conversely, the Golden Eagles led the conference in offense, averaging 80.4 points per game.
Despite leading by as much as seven points in the first half, the Yotes entered halftime in a 37-37 tie.
The Golden Eagles dominated the second half, securing a 41-37 advantage at the 18th minute mark and maintaining the lead throughout. The Yotes struggled to narrow the gap, trailing by less than six points for the remainder of the game.
Sedrick Altman delivered an outstanding performance for the Coyotes, scoring a game-high 22 points, shooting 4-for-9 from beyond the arc, and contributing 4 rebounds and 4 assists.
LeAndrew Knight achieved his first double-double as a Yote, scoring 19 points with a 60.0% field goal percentage and grabbing 11 rebounds, five of which were defensive boards.
The key difference for the Golden Eagles came in two crucial categories: points off turnovers and fast-break points. Cal State LA capitalized on turnovers, scoring 22 points while allowing only four. In the fast break, Cal State LA amassed an impressive 29 points, while the Yotes only had four. Despite the loss, the Yotes excelled in rebounding, boasting a substantial 53-28 edge over Cal State LA.

ROBBY ROBINSON REACHES 1000 CAREER POINTS
Despite the Yotes' loss, Robby Robinson marked a significant milestone by reaching 1000 career points and completing his fifth double-double of the season, with 16 points and 13 rebounds, to match last year's record. This latest double-double contributed to Robinson's season total of 177 points.
Joining the Yotes last season, Robinson played a pivotal role in the team's journey to the Final Four. The Second Team All-CCAA forward showcased his skills, putting up impressive numbers with 246 points and 231 rebounds during the previous season.
Robinson's basketball journey began at San Diego Community College in the 2018-2019 season, where he made a notable impact by scoring 445 points. His shooting proficiency was evident, boasting a 45.3% field goal percentage and a 39.4% accuracy from beyond the arc.
Before donning the Yotes' jersey, Robinson had stints at the University of New Orleans and the University of Nevada, accumulating 132 points over the 2019-2022 seasons.
The San Diego native reached 1000 points on the dot in Los Angeles this Saturday. While the Yotes may have faced a setback in the game, Robby Robinson's achievement of 1000 career points stands as a testament to his remarkable contribution to the team and his impressive basketball journey.Â
