ALISO VIEJO, Calif. - Five members of the California State University San Bernardino baseball team were named to the California Collegiate Athletic Association 2024 Preseason Watchlist on Monday morning.

Outfielder Giovanni Del Negro (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) was the first CSUSB honoree. Del Negro was a First Team All-Conference selection in the CCAA in 2023 after batting .379 with 94 hits, 65 runs scored, and 72 runs batted in. He belted 13 home runs with 16 doubles and three triples, and was named a All-American by three different associations.

Pitchers Dylan O'Connor (Tacoma, Wash.) and Luke Hempel (Glendale, Calif.) each earned recognition on Monday as well. O'Connor started 17 games for the Yotes in CSUSB's run to the College World Series last year, finishing the season with a record of 9-5, a 4.92 earned run average, 94 strikeouts, and two shutouts. Hempel made 14 starts with a record of 7-3, striking out 54 with an ERA of 5.14. O'Connor was named to the CCAA All-Conference Second Team, while Hempel made the All-Conference Honorable Mention team

Rounding out the Coyote honorees were seniors Daryl Ruiz (Corona, Calif.) and Garrett Macias (Iwakuni, Japan). Ruiz was a First Team All-CCAA selection last season, with a .335 batting average, 15 home runs, and 10 doubles. He notched 64 runs scored and drove in 62. Macias batted .292 with nine home runs and 12 doubles to earn All-CCAA Second Team honors. He recorded 59 runs batted in and 36 runs scored.

The Yotes will open their season with an eight-game home stand at Fiscalini Field. The home opener is on Friday, February 2, when the Yotes welcome Colorado Christian for the start of a three-game series. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m.
