THE YOTES TRIUMPH OVER THE LUMBERJACKS WITH A 65-51 VICTORY

ARCATA, Calif – The No. 4 CSUSB men’s basketball team secured their sixth consecutive win of the season on Saturday afternoon against Cal Poly Humboldt, concluding with a score of 65-51.

ARCATA, Calif – The No. 4 CSUSB men's basketball team secured their sixth consecutive win of the season on Saturday afternoon against Cal Poly Humboldt, concluding with a score of 65-51. This victory extended the Yotes' winning streak against the Lumberjacks to six games since 2020.
 
The Yotes maintained the lead throughout the game, reaching a maximum advantage of 16 points against the Lumberjacks.
 
Chris Mitchell, a transfer from Cal Poly Pomona, delivered an outstanding performance for the Yotes, contributing 24 points with remarkable accuracy in his shooting. Mitchell went 8-for-15 from the field and an impressive 3-for-4, boasting a 75% success rate from beyond the arc. Additionally, he was only two points shy of achieving a double-double, securing 8 rebounds.
 
Jalen Flanagan, a transfer from San Francisco State, continued his impressive shooting streak with a 17-point contribution, following a 10-point game at Chico State. Flanagan exhibited almost flawless free-throw accuracy, going 10-for-11 from the free-throw line.
 
Robby Robinson and Sam Freeman combined for a total of 19 points, with Robinson scoring 12 points and Freeman contributing 7. Robinson went 1-for-1 from beyond the arc and 3-for-7 from the field, while also collecting 6 rebounds. Freeman, a senior transfer from the University of the Pacific, achieved a perfect 3-for-3 from the field, along with 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.
 
Overall, the Coyotes maintained a shooting efficiency of 42.5% from the field and 38.5% from beyond the arc. Once again, the Coyotes' success at the free-throw line made a significant impact, as they went 26-for-30, compared to the Lumberjacks' 11-for-23.
