HONOLULU, HI – The CSUSB men's basketball team defeated Chaminade on Friday night, winning by a score of 106-78 to improve to 5-0 on the season. With the loss, Chaminade falls to 1-2 on the year.
The Yotes' top three scorers –
Brandon Knapper,
Dontrell Shuler, and
Eddie Davis - all showed out against the Silverswords, combining for 69 of the team's 106 points. CCAA Player of the Week Knapper was absolutely lethal from three-point range, shooting 8-for-9 beyond the arc for an 88 percent three-point percentage. En route to scoring 28 points, the Ontario native also gathered five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Davis was close behind Knapper with 23 points of his own, shooting 10-for-16 from the floor with six rebounds. Shuler rounded out the performance for the big three, scoring 18 while also collecting six rebounds and leading the team with six assists.
Even with those three carrying the offense, the rest of the 'Dino Boyz certainly contributed to help secure the win.
Mahmoud Fofana and
Robby Robinson both scored eight points while collecting eight and six rebounds, respectively.
Darius Mickens was the only Yote to record double-digit rebounds, while also gathering five assists and seven points.
The team as a whole shot 55 percent from the field and 47 percent behind the arc. They set season-highs in points (106), field goals made (44), field goal attempts (79), three-points made (11), and rebounds (52).
