Dontrell Shuler made an impressive CCAA debut as he has been selected as the Men's Basketball Player of the Week, for the week of Nov. 8-13.
Shuler led No. 9 Cal State San Bernardino to a pair of road wins in Monmouth, Ore. at the CCAA/GNAC Challenge. CSUSB defeated Western Oregon and Central Washington to start the season 2-0.
In two games, Shuler scored 41 points with nine rebounds, five assists, two steals and a block shot. The Middle Tennessee State transfer was prolific beyond the arc, hitting seven of 11 tries (.636) from three-point land.
The junior guard scored 26 points in his Yotes debut on Friday, leading CSUSB to a 76-64 win over WOU. Shuler was 8 of 21 from the field with five three-pointers on eight attempts. Shuler, who is from Columbia, S.C., also led CSUSB in scoring the following night with 15 points and five rebounds in the victory over CWU.
CSUSB will play closer to home this weekend at the Bronco Classic in Pomona with games against La Sierra and Biola.
