SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The CSUSB women's soccer team tied with San Francisco State on Sunday afternoon, moving to 7-6-3 on the season with a 3-4-3 record in conference play.
The Yotes' offense struggled to get going in the first half, not being able to attempt a single shot. The Gators, on the other hand, were unable to attempt a single shot in the entire second half of the game. With all shots coming in opposite halves, the Yotes attempted a total of eight while SFSU attempted six.
In the first 12 minutes of the game, the Gators were able to put four shots on goal. The last of those snuck past CSUSB goalkeeper
Carly Luna, giving SFSU a 1-0 lead. Luna ended up recording four saves in the game, three of those coming in the first 10 minutes.
After a quiet first half from the offense,
Jordan Salinas was able to attempt the Yotes' first shot of the game in the 54
th minute – which was saved by the Gators' goalkeeper. After two more shots by Salinas and one by
Nathaly Losada Lucumi, CSUSB was finally able to break through with their first, and only, goal in the 80
th minute. Although Losada Lucumi's shot was saved by the SFSU goalkeeper, the ball slipped out of her possession, allowing
Sarah Mahfoud to immediately collect the rebound and put it in the net for her fifth goal of the season. This goal brought the score to 1-1, where it would remain for the final ten minutes of the game.
