ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The No. 6 Yotes continue to put the pressure on the CCAA conference with another win. Capitalizing on their deep bench and adaptability, CSUSB toppled the Seawolves, 94-74.
In the first half the Yotes focused on moving the ball as they collected 14 assists. CSUSB scored 14 points of the bench and 32 of their points were in the paint. They also shot an impressive 66.7% in field goals, with 41.7% from beyond the arc. The Yotes out rebounded the Seawolves collecting 18 boards against Sonoma States 13 rebounds.
Timmy Falls went two of four from the three-point line.
Darius Mickens moved the offense collecting five assists in the first half.
Daytone Jennings tallied 10 points and shot 100% from the free-throw line. CSUSB went into halftime with the lead, 52-34.
The Yotes continued to move the offense as they collected six more assist in the second half. CSUSB also began to push the pace and scored 12 points from fast breaks. Sonoma State kept up with the Yotes, scoring 40 points of their own in the second half. The score gap created by CSUSB was too large for the Seawolves to overcome. The Yotes took their seventh win in a row, 94-74.
"We had a great road win against a great home team" said coach Andrew Newman. "Any time you can win on the road in this conference it's a testament to our team staying together."
CSUSB proves once again that their depth and teamwork is their greatest strength. Ball movement and focus on collaboration led to 10 Yotes scoring in this game.
Three Yotes scored in double digits for CSUSB in their victory against Sonoma State.
Daytone Jennings collected his eighth double-double on the season with 18 points, 10 rebounds, and had five assists. Also Collecting 18 points on the game was
Darius Mickens, who added eight rebounds and six assists.
Last to score in double-digits for the Yotes was
Eddie Davis who tallied 10 points, six assists, and five rebounds.
Darius Lubom was also a key player for CSUSB as he added nine points and six assists.
Timmy Falls snagged two steals and had nine points and one assist.
CSUSB is scheduled to play their next game on Thursday, January 20
