POMONA, Calif. – The CSUSB Yotes opened the 2021 season with a non-conference match at Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday afternoon, falling 0-2.
The Yotes defense was able to hold the Broncos to just the two goals with
Carly Luna making 11 saves in goal. On the offensive end both
Sarah Savella and
Vidalia Abarca fired shots in the first half as the Yotes trailed by just one.
"Regardless of the result, it was fantastic to finally be back playing again," head coach
Mark Peters said. "This game was a reminder of the quality the CCAA provides and the experience will serve us well moving forward. Now we move on and prepare for the next match."
The season is just beginning as the Yotes will travel to Cal State LA on Monday for another non-conference showdown at 12 pm. The game is live on the CCAANetwork.com.
