CLEVELAND – The CSUSB Yotes had 44 award winners earn the Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) Academic Achievement Awards, announced this week. The number of recipients marks another department record for the Yotes and represents an increase of 3 winners from last year's total.
The Yotes were one of 10 CCAA schools with honorees. To earn the honor:
- The student-athlete must:
have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
- have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
- have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 14th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level.
"This marks another great achievement for out student-athletes for their academic work over the past year," CSUSB Director of Athletics
Shawn Chin-Farrell said. "As a member of the D2 ADA, I am especially proud of our student-athletes and their Champion Performance. They did great things in the classroom in 2020-21 and I know they are ready to carry that into the classroom and well as in competition in 2021-22. Go Yotes!"
In total, there were a record breaking 16,164 student-athletes from 187 institutions recognized for the 2020-21 Academic Achievement Awards. This is the most student-athletes being recognized since the inception of the award's program.
