BELMONT – The CSUSB Coyotes got off to a fast start at Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday morning, scoring in the third minute in what became a 1-1 tie in double overtime.
Jessica Hernandez got her second of the year in the third minute as Rebekka Bogan and Kimberly Garcia were on the assist. The Argonauts tied it up in the 39th minute. The Coyotes just trailed in shots on goal, 8-13.
In the 97th minute Kelly Kevershan had her shot saved in the Yotes' best OT chance. Paola Morales and Garcia each had two shots on goal for CSUSB and Carly Luna made 12 saves in goal.
"Even though we didn't lose this game, it feels like it to us," head coach LeBaron Hollimon said. "Even though there are some frustrations, I'm pleased that we showed progress in our attacking energy and created enough really good chances to have won the game. Carly Luna and Natalie Day have been defensive rocks for us and they were big time again today."
The Coyotes remain on the road, but in Southern California, as they open CCAA action on Wednesday at Cal Poly Pomona at 4:30 pm. Live links are on CSUSBathletics.com.
