SEASIDE, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes completed the day one sweep at the CCAA Championships on Thursday, taking down No. 21 Chico State 7-5 in the nightcap, after beating San Francisco State 9-3 in the morning.
After letting up two runs in the first, the Coyotes put up five in the second as Samantha Vacko and Jamiana Gateb followed a Kiana Abellera single with back-to-back two-RBI doubles. In the fifth, Claudia Lopez hit a two-run shot to make it 7-2. The Wildcats got three runs late, but Kendra O'Cull was outstanding again, scattering five hits with nine K's and Amanda Ramirez earned the save in the seventh.
Sydney Kreimann and Lopez each had two hits for the Yotes who had nine as a team.
"I just throw with confidence, I know my team has my back and our coaches believe in us," O'Cull said.
The Yotes will play the winner of UC San Diego and Sonoma State on Saturday at 2:30 pm in the CCAA Semifinals. Live links will be posted on CSUSBathletics.com.
