LA JOLLA, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes ended the regular-season in style, downing No. 10 UC San Diego 5-1 on the road after dropping game one, 2-5. The Coyotes will face San Francisco State in Seaside, Calif. on Thursday at noon in the first round.
In game one, the Yotes put a runner on in every inning, but stranded 10. UCSD led 4-0 after three and tacked on one in the fifth. Kelia Paragas doubled a run home in the fourth and a run scored on a groundout in the fifth for CSUSB. Morgan Ratliff led the Yotes with three hits, as Dominique Walker and Paragas each had two. Walker and Haley Finn both doubled and Ratliff, Jamiana Gateb, and Sydney Kreimann all stole bases.
In the second game, the Yotes jumped ahead 1-0 in the first on a single from Kreimann, who finished with three hits and two RBI. A fielder's choice and groundout by the Coyotes made it 3-0 in the third. A UCSD error made it 4-0 in the fifth and Diana Gomez capped the scoring with an RBI-single in the sixth.
The Yotes outhit the Tritons again, 11-6, with Ratliff getting another three and Gateb collecting two in addition to a double. Ratliff, Claudia Lopez, and Samantha Vacko all swiped bags. Kendra O'Cull allowed just six hits and a run, while Anissa Padilla went two and a third innings of no-hit ball.
The Coyotes wrap the regular season at 26-18 and 20-16 in the CCAA.
