CSUSB Squares Series With Seawolves

Take two one-run wins

SONOMA, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes bounced back and took two from Sonoma State on Saturday, 5-4 and 3-2.

In game one, the Yotes built a 5-1 lead through five innings as Sydney Kreimann and Morgan Parsons singled home runs.  Dominique Walker hit a sac fly in the fifth and Kreimann laced adouble to left center to plate two.  The Yotes had six hits as a team and left only five on base.  Ratliff and Jamiana Gateb both stole bases.

Amanda Ramirez (12-8) allowed nine hits but only three runs and Kendra O'Cull got the save, her second of the year.

In game two, the Yotes had taken a 2-1 lead in the fifth after Gateb launched a two-run shot over the left field fence.  Sonoma State tied in the sixth, but Ratliff reached on an error in the seventh and scored after a Walker single and Kreimann put the ball in play up the middle.

O'Cull was great on the mound for CSUSB, going all seven allowing just two runs on five hits with six K's.  The Yotes had five hits as Walker had two, including a double.

"Our teams performance today was really gritty," CSUSB head coach Dee Payan said.  "Mandy and Kendra performed well in the circle and kept us in the game until we could produce some timely hitting.  Sydney and Jamiana came up big for us in clutch situations.  Overall, I am extremely proud of how much heart and fight we showed to get these wins."

The Coyotes (22-14, 16-12 CCAA) return home next weekend for their final homestand of the year.  They face CSU Dominguez Hills on Friday at 1 pm.  Live stats are on CSUSBathletics.com.
