POMONA, Calif. – The CSUSB Coyotes came charging back but just ran out of time in the fourth quarter at Cal Poly Pomona on Saturday night, falling 58-62.
Unfortunately, the Yotes came out on the wrong end of a four-way tie for the seventh and eighth spots in the CCAA Tournament as a result, as their season comes to an end.
Jasmine Sauser capped a fantastic senior campaign with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Kayla Bibb added 16 points and Daisia Williams finished strong with 13. The Yotes led on the glass, 41-40.
The Yotes kept it close in the first quarter, never leading, but staying within 10 points. It remained there as CPP led 35-27 at half. The Broncos led by as much as 15 in the third quarter. Midway through the fourth quarter it was down to seven, as LeAundra Walker-Brown hit a three. Sauser hit a three with 34 seconds left to cut it to two, but CPP responded with a jumper and made foul shots to finish.
The Yotes ended the season 10-16 overall and 9-13 in conference, but return four starters next season.
