SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Coyotes squared the series with San Francisco State on Friday with a pair of walk-off wins, 5-1 and 9-8, at CSUSB Softball Park.
Diana Gomez deposit an 0-1 pitch over the right field fence with the bases loaded for the walk-off grand slam to win game one 5-1 in eight innings. The Yotes had matched the Gators at one in the first on a single from Dominque Walker. It was a pitching duel once again with Amanda Ramirez (4-1) going all eight allowing just one run while scattering seven hits.
"I came up with confidence," Gomez said on her last at-bat. "I knew we were going to win that game, we had been fighting the whole way through."
Morgan Ratliff had two hits and doubled for the Yotes who had six hits on the game.
In game two, the Yotes recovered from losing a three-run lead in the sixth to win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the seventh. In the seventh, a run scored on a throwing error from the catcher and dropped fly ball saw two come home for the win.
The Yotes had claimed a 3-0 lead through three innings on a RBI-single from Gomez and solo shots from Ratliff and Walker. Ratliff homered again in the sixth, along with Claudia Lopez. Walker singled to left to tie the game at six in that inning. The Yotes did leave a runner on third to end the sixth.
Bailey Powell was solid for the Yotes, as all six runs were unearned. Ramirez (5-1) finished the game, allowing just two unearned runs.
The Yotes (9-2, 6-2 CCAA) are off to Chico next week to play Chico State on Friday and Saturday. Live links will be available on CSUSBathletics.com.
