SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Coyotes controlled the game from the get-go against CSU San Marcos at home on Thursday night, winning 68-58.
Daytone Jennings led four Yotes in double figures with 15 points, as Naradain James added 14, Andres Villa scored 11, and Dante Williams poured in 10 off the bench. CSUSB shot 54 percent on the night, and held CSUSM to 29 percent shooting in the first half, as they led 28-19 at half.
The Coyotes never trailed and after the game was tied at 17, finished the half on a 11-2 run with scoring coming from five different Yotes in that stretch. The second-half margin hit the 20-point mark midway through and slowly went down from there as CSUSB burned clock.
The Yotes controlled the glass, 32-28, and scored 38 points in the paint, led by Villa and Williams.
"I really like how Andres (Villa) plays," said Williams. "He is a really crafty post and I try to take advantage of the opportunity when I am on the floor with him."
The Coyotes (14-9, 10-7) will welcome UC San Diego to Coussoulis Arena on Saturday afternoon for a 3 pm game. Live links are available on CSUSBathletics.com.
