HAYWARD – The CSUSB Coyotes held the lead late, but two free throws from Cal State East Bay with nine seconds left gave them the 70-69 win on Thursday night.
The Yotes had trailed 33-34 at half, but grabbed the lead five minutes into the second half and took off from there. The edge reached its pinnacle at the 9:02 mark when a
Daytone Jennings jumper put the Yotes up 55-44. The Coyotes still led by 10 with three minutes left but the Pioneers finished on a 13-2 run.
Jennings led the Coyotes with 17 points.
Tyrell Henderson added 12 and four others scored eight or more.
Jeremy Smith had 11 rebounds and Jennings had nine.
