STOCKTON (May 4, 2018) — No. 2 Chico State has lofty national recognition for a reason as it handed the Coyotes a 12-0 defeat in the opening round of the CCAA Tournament on Friday night at Bill Simoni Field at the University of Pacific.
The No. 4 seeded Coyotes (28-19) face No. 3 Stanislaus State (32-21) in an elimination game at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. In all likelihood, the winner will receive an NCAA Tournament berth when the national bracket is announced at 7 a.m. Monday. The loser will likely see its season end.
Chico State (48-3) scored eight runs in the first inning and never looked back. The Coyotes had just two hits — a single from
Caitlyn Olan and a double from
Morgan Ratliff.
The Wildcats had three home runs in the first inning.
