Coyotes rewarded with split over over No. 21 UCSD

SAN BERNARDINO (April 7, 2018) — Should CSUSB reach postseason play in 2018, the Coyotes  can look back and say their split over No. 21 UC San Diego played a critical role in reaching their goal.

After losing the opener 6-4, the Coyotes came back for a 7-4 victory. They will take a 22-14 record into next Saturday's nonconference doubleheader against Concordia at Coyote Park.

In the opener, the Coyotes scored their four runs on only five hits. They scored three unearned runs and took advantage of four UCSD to get back into the game.

All five hits were singles by Morgan Ratliff, Jessica Brown, Sydney Kreimann, Caitlyn Olan and Samantha Vacko. Both Kreimann and Vacko had runs batted in.

The Coyotes didn't hesitate in the second game, scoring four first-inning runs and never trailed.

Kreimann connected on a three-run home run — her first of the season — in the first. Jessica Brown then added her 13th home run of the season — a two-run shot in the fourth. It ties her career high from a year ago.

Freshman RHP Kendra O'Cull earned the victory, throwing 4.2 innings with three strikeouts. She scattered nine hits and improved her record to 7-5.
