Coyotes go 4-1 after Hawaiian sweep

TURLOCK (March 25, 2018) – CSUSB took care of business Sunday, taking a pair of games from Pac West foes Hawaii-Hilo and Chaminade on the final day of play at the Tournament of Champions.
 
CSUSB (18-10 overall) won four of five games over the weekend and resume CCAA play this week at Cal State Monterey Bay.
 
Coyotes 6, Hawaii-Hilo 0
Junior RHP Amanda Ramirez wowed the Vulcans, tossing a four-hit shutout with four strikeouts. She did not allow a walk.
 
Jessica Brown clubbed a two-run home run in the third. She also scored on a sac fly from Jamiana Gateb in the first. She finished 1-for-3.
 
Samantha Vacko and Dominique Walker each had two hits with an RBI.
 
Coyotes 9, Chaminade 1 5 innings
Gateb and Caitlyn Olan each had 3-for-3 efforts and Gateb added a pair of RBI for the game that ended due to the eight-run rule in the fifth.
 
Ratliff added a two-run single in the second and Monica Maddox hit a two-run single in the fifth that ended the game.
 
Ramirez earned the start and improved to 11-7 after four innings of work. Freshman Kendra O'Cull had one strikeout in one inning.
