SEASIDE (February 23, 2018) — Four of the Coyotes' six hits went for extra bases in their 10-2 loss to No. 21 Cal State Monterey Bay in the teams' CCAA series opener.
Down 5-0, CSUSB got on the scoreboard in the third.
Shawn Porthan connected on a two-out double down the left-field line.
Gabe Chavez followed with a double of his own — this one to right center and the Coyotes cut the lead to 5-1.
In the sixth,
Erick Allegro, who reached on a double to right center, later scored on a throwing error by the shortstop.
In all,
Tyler Robles also added a double as he went 2-for-3.
On the mound, starter RHP
Garret Christiansen gave up 11 hits in his five innings. He struck out five, walked five and allowed seven runs — four earned. Reliever
Noah Simon threw three innings and had one strikeout.
