SEASIDE, Calif. – The Coyotes played into the 85th minute in a scoreless duel at CSU Monterey Bay on Sunday, and took advantage of a penalty kick opportunity, with Haidee Duran getting her first goal of the year for the 1-0 win.
It was a defensive affair, with CSUSB taking three shots on goal and CSUMB taking two. Carly Luna made the two necessary saves. The Coyotes were knocking on the door prior to goal with two corner kick opportunities within those three minutes.
"After games when the team gets a good result, especially after some tough losses in the lead up, the feeling is usually relief," head coach LeBaron Hollimon said. "Today I am overwhelmingly proud. The team put in a solid blue collar effort and every player had a significant positive impact for the win. We're still fighting for postseason play and it was great to see that battling spirit today."
The team will look to keep fighting for that postseason berth next week, traveling to CSU Dominguez Hills on Thursday at 4:30 pm.
