Blake McBride caught fire early Saturday, scoring three 3-pointers in the first three-plus minutes and CSUSB handed Humboldt State a 90-79 drubbing in CCAA basketball Saturday night.
Impressive leads
A 21-5 run early produced results that pleased head coach
Jeff Oliver to no end. McBride's outside shooting put the Coyotes in complete control. They led by double digits the final 35 minutes and led by as many as 22 points. The victory was CSUSB's first road victory on the season and snapped its three-game losing streak.
Big Mac on fire
McBride led the Coyotes (7-9, 5-7 CCAA) in scoring with 23 points (7 of 10 FGs, 6-7 3s, 3-4 FTs). Fellow senior
Elijah Brown also scored 20 points and dealt five assists.
Ajon Efferson added 13 points and
T.A. Dixon 11.
Dominance in every regard
CSUSB dominated HSU(6-12, 3-9) throughout the contest. The Coyotes finished 51.7 percent from the field, nine 3-pointers, and hit 21 of 25 free throws. They outrebounded the Jacks 35-28.
Breaking through 50 percent
CSUSB fired at least 50 percent from the field for the first time this season.
