SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 18, 2017) — The Coyotes suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday night when Cal Poly Pomona's William Christmas scored on a put-back before the buzzer, handing CSUSB a 45-43 loss at Coussoulis Arena.
With seven seconds left,
Blake McBride fired up a three-pointer from the left side that was off the mark. Jordan Ogundiran gathered the rebound and raced up the court for the final play in regulation. He put up a shot up-close that was off, but Christmas offered the put-back shot before the buzzer for the victory.
Eli Brown led the Coyotes (11-12, 7-11 CCAA) with 10 points, and
Everett Turner had nine.
CPP (10-12, 8-10) was led by Christmas with 11.
The loss was a difficult one, as CSUSB has lost four straight and needs to bounce back in hopes of reaching the CCAA Tournament. The Coyotes face conference-leading UC San Diego on Thursday, and close the regular season Saturday night against Cal State Dominguez Hills. Both games are at Coussoulis Arena.
