STOCKTON (May 11, 2016) — Wednesday afternoon became one of exasperation in Port City for the Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes in their CCAA Tournament game against Cal State East Bay.
The No. 2 seed Pioneers struck with nine runs on seven hits in the sixth inning and went on to win 13-2 over the fifth-seed Coyotes at Banner Island Ballpark.
The loss for the Coyotes (22-28) puts them in an elimination game against top-seed Cal Poly Pomona at 11 a.m. The Broncos lost to Chico State 6-2.
Coyotes ace
Tyler Wells (4-7), the conference's strikeout leader, threw only one in 5 1/3 innings. He surrendered 10 hits and four walks and allowed nine runs with seven earned.

It was a tight 1-0 game in favor of the Pioneers before they unloaded in the sixth. Nick Perugi had a two-run triple and Joe Resch contributed a two-run double in the pivotal inning for the Pioneers (31-18).
Brian Lockey made sure the shutout bid came to a halt with a solo shot to left in the seventh. It was his third in the last four games.
Lockey finished with two hits and
William Ouellette doubled.
All told, Coyotes pitchers issued a total of seven walks.
