ROHNERT PARK (Nov. 19, 2016) — Coach
Jeff Oliver must have offered one of the more inspired halftime discussions in recent memory.
Trailing by two points at the break in their game against Saint Martin's, the Coyotes struck with an awe-inspiring 18-0 run to begin the second half in an 80-75 win over the Saints in a game played at Sonoma State.
Khleem Perkins scored six of his 15 points in that stretch, and
Phil Reed,
Everett Turner and
Ramon Eaton each added four apiece as CSUSB led 52-36 with 14:21 remaining in the game.
CSUSB was more than opportunistic on the defensive end, outscoring Saint Martin's 28-7 off turnovers. In fact, the Saints wasted a 58.7 percent field goal effort with 19 turnovers.
Five Coyotes scored in double figures, led by
Blake McBride's 17 points. After Perkins,
Dorian Butler added 12, and Reed and
Eli Brown each had 11.
CSUSB (3-1), which won its third straight game, is off until its CCAA opener at Cal State San Marcos on Nov. 30.
