SAN BERNARDINO (Nov. 1, 2016) — CSUSB's season came to an end Tuesday afternoon, losing 2-0 to Cal State L.A. in the CCAA Tournament first round.
The third-seeded Coyotes finished 2016 at 8-7-2 under second-year head coach
LeBaron Hollimon and returned to the postseason for the first time since 2014.
The sixth-seeded Golden Eagles scored in the 11
th minute on a goal from Marie-Lou Larose. The Coyotes then faced a difficult test when senior
Megan Todd was given a red card for rough play in the 34
th minute and CSUSB played the remainder of the game short-handed.
CSULA added its final goal in the 39
th minute from Tatiana Zuvic.
CSUSB was outshot 20-5 and had just three shots on goal — one each from
Gabby Evaristo,
Susan Ibarra and
Paige Kang.
The Golden Eagles (7-8-3) advance to the CCAA semifinals Friday afternoon against No. 2 Sonoma State in Turlock.
