FRESNO (Nov. 1, 2016) — Khleem Perkins scored a game-high 29 points off the bench in CSUSB's 76-69 loss at Division I Fresno State in men's basketball exhibition play Tuesday night at the Save Mart Center.
Perkins was 9 of 16 from the floor with five 3-pointers and 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Senior
Everett Turner was the only other Coyote in double figures with 10 points. Junior
Phil Reed had a game-high 10 rebounds.
Nolan Kelly scored eight points with a pair of threes and Reed and
Eli Brown each had six.
The Bulldogs, who reached the NCAA Tournament last season, outscored the Coyotes 21-11 at the line.
The Coyotes led 57-56 on a
Phil Reed layup with 9:43 remaining in the game. Fresno State then outscored CSUSB 10-2 over the next four-plus minutes and stayed in front for the duration.
There were 12 ties and eight lead changes. CSUSB's largest lead was 10 early in the second half.
CSUSB opens the season Nov. 11 against Central Washington at Cal State Monterey Bay.
