SAN BERNARDINO (Oct. 9, 2016) — It has been a long, hard climb toward the .500 mark on the 2016 and CSUSB reached that status in a hard-fought 1-0 victory over West Region power Stanislaus State in CCAA play Sunday afternoon.
Rachael Figg supplied the game's only goal on a well-played offensive opportunity in the 52
nd minute of play. The Coyotes created space and thanks to a well-placed assist from
Paige Kang, Figg fired in a shot for the lead.
The victory was CSUSB's fourth straight and extended its unbeaten streak to five games (4-0-1). The Coyotes go into their bye-week at 6-5-1 overall and 5-2-1 in the CCAA with 16 points.
Megan Vina earned the shutout, thanks to a sound defensive effort by her teammates in which the Warriors (7-5, 1-5) had just one shot on goal on their 13 shots.
All three of Figg's and
Megan Todd's shots were SOG.
CSUSB next plays Oct. 21 at Cal State Dominguez Hills. The game will be played at Carson's StubHub Center.
