SAN BERNARDINO (Sept. 27, 2015) — Freshman
Denae Verdine scored her fourth goal of the year in the 74th minute to give Cal State San Bernardino its third-straight win in a 1-0 decision over visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills.
The unassisted score brings the Coyotes to 4-3-2, 3-0-1 CCAA, keeping them in a tie atop the league standings.
Playing under the lights on the same night as a scheduled Supermoon Lunar Eclipse, it was the stellar keeping of
Megan Vina that kept the Cardinal and Gold off the board for 90 minutes, withstanding a flurry of Toros in the 90th minute of action.
CSUDH got the best of play in the first 45 minutes as it outshot the hosts 8-3, but Vina made four saves during that stretch to keep the scoreboard still.
In the second half, the Coyotes found their offense, tying the Toros with eight shots apiece.
Verdine netted the game's loan score as she fired a shot from the top of the box, where it ricocheted off the crossbar and into the goal.
Vina finsihed with 7 saves while counterpart Elisa Martin made 5 in the loss.
CSUSB will look to keep its win streak going next weekend hosting rival Cal Poly Pomona for a 12 noon first kick.
