Box Score 2 SAN BERNARDINO (April 11, 2015) – Cal State San Bernardino swept past San Francisco State, 12-5 and 6-5 on Saturday in a California Collegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader at Fiscalini Field.
The Coyotes, 9-26 overall and 7-19 in the CCAA, take a 3-0 series lead into today's series finale at 11 a.m. at Fiscalini Field, having won Friday night's opener 9-5. The Gators slipped to 13-20 overall and 12-15 in the CCAA.
Senior third baseman
Aaron Owen led the Coyotes with six hits in seven at-bats in the twinbill, including two home runs in the nine-inning first game, scoring six times and driving in three runs. CSUSB scored four runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth to pull away from SFSU.
The Coyotes pounded out 17 hits in game one with Owen a perfect 4-for-4 while second baseman
Grant Buchanan was 4-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored.
Warren Fishback went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and 2 RBI. Senior shortstop
Kevin Meriwether chipped in two RBI with two hits in five at-bats.

Parks Smithey, picked up his first win of the season in game one.
Chad Thurston, who had a big day for the Gators, was 3-for-4 in the first game with an RBI while Matt Vera was 2 for 5 with two RBI. Starter Ryan Bohnet gave up seven runs and his record slipped to 2-5.
In the seven-inning nightcap, the Coyotes bounced back from an early 2-0 deficit with a 4-2 lead in the third and led 6-2 before the Gators closed the gap to 6-4 in the sixth. Coyotes starter and winner

Ruben Rios came on to strike out SFSU's Andrew Green to retire the side with a pair of runners on base.
Rios retired the first two batters in the seventh before a Coyote error followed by a Thursston base hit and a run-scoring double by Garrett Heisinger forced Coach
Don Parnell to call on Matt LaVert out of the bullpen to save the game. He did, inducing Jacob Lopez to ground out to shortstop to end the contest and earn his third save of the season.
Owen was 2-for-3 in the second game with two runs scored and an RBI while
Damion Edmonds was 2-for-4. Right fielder
Trevor Williams had a pair of hits and an RBI for the Coyotes.
Meriwether drove in what proved to be the winning run in the fifth with a single to plate
Jose Hernandez, the designated hitter.
Nick Jackson was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Thurston was 2-for-4 with an RBI and Connor Fraser was 2-for-3 in the nightcap. Gators starter Peter Reyes (2-5) took the loss.
