Box Score CARSON (Feb. 6, 2015) -- Two sizeable runs were the difference makers for the Coyotes in their 68-56 win over host Cal State Dominguez Hills in their CCAA men's basketball game Friday night.
The Coyotes scored the game's first 10 points, then finished the game with a 15-2 run to even their record to 9-9 overall and 9-6 in the CCAA.
Junior guard Jacob Thomas led the Coyotes with a game-high 23 points to lead three in double figures. Senior Isaiah Morton had 14 with five assists and senior post Tevin Harris had 13.
Everett Turner scored five of the Coyotes' 10 points in the early run and Thomas finished with 12 first-half points, but the Toros overcame the early deficit and both teams went into the half tied at 30-30.
Jacob then opened the second half with a 3-pointer and that gave the Coyotes the lead for good in the final half.
Twice the Toros cut the Coyotes' lead to two, and as late as 5:28 remaining in the game with CSUSB up 52-50.
Thomas stopped the run with a jumper and that set the tone for the Coyotes' final run that gave them a 15-point lead (67-52) with 1:01 left.
CSUSB outscored the Toros 26-9 off turnovers and the Toros' 56 points marked a season defensive-best by the Coyotes.
CSUSB returns to the court Saturday night at Cal State L.A.
Justin Sadler led CSUDH (5-16, 1-14) with 15 points.
