Box Score SAN BERNARDINO (Feb. 12, 2015) — A last second 3-pointer by Chico State's Mike Rosaroso gave visiting Chico State a 73-72 overtime win over the Coyotes on Thursday night at Coussoulis Arena.
The Coyotes had their four-game winning streak snapped and ended their home unbeaten streak at seven. They will take their 10-10 overall and 10-7 CCAA records into Saturday night's home game against Cal State Stanislaus.
CSUSB's Jacob Thomas had two shots at the line with 10 seconds to go and the Coyotes clinging to a 71-70 lead. He made the first -- his 12th consecutive of the game -- but the second rimmed out and CSUSB led by two.
The Wildcats worked the ball around and Robert Duncan found Rosaroso all alone in the deep left corner in front of his bench. He squared his shoulders and sent the ball arching high. It dropped through with .1 second left in the game for the game-winning shot and his only points on the night.
The Coyotes, who led by as many as 14 points with 15:02 to go, saw the reigning NCAA West Regional champion battle back by outscoring the Coyotes 17-4 with a 10-0 spurt over the next seven-plus minutes.
Six lead changes and four ties occurred in the final 6:37 of regulation, but the Coyotes had their chance.
Thomas had a look at the top of the key with 10 seconds left and the game tied at 62-62. His 3-pointer was off and Chico State also had a chance for the win, but Jordan Semple's jumper with two seconds was off.
In overtime, Casey Oldemoppen hit two field goals -- one outside and the other on a nifty baseline feed from Taylor Statham -- and CSUSB led by four, 71-67 with 1:08 left.
Duncan then answered with a jumper and Drew Kitchen cut the lead to one on a free throw. But he missed the second and the Wildcats fouled Thomas with 10 seconds to set up the final moments.
Thomas scored a game-high 29 and senior Isaiah Morton had 18. Oldemoppen had 12 off the bench.
Duncan led Chico State (17-5, 14-3) with 22.
