CARSON (December 19, 2015) -- CSUSB's hopes for an upset victory at Cal State Dominguez Hills were denied when Monay Lee hit a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left in the Toros' 63-62 win in CCAA play Saturday night.
Senior All-CCAA guard
Alexcia Mack carried the Coyotes for the second straight night, scoring 16 points and an 11-of-12 free throw effort.
Chelsea Barnes added 13 points and
Chelsea Austin added 11.
The Coyotes held a seven-point lead in the fourth quarter, but the Toros fought back after CSUSB took a 62-60 lead on Mack's free throws with 43 seconds left.
Mack hit the front end, but missed the second and the Toros' set up for a 3-pointer from Lee for the game-winner.
Mack's shot wtih 12 seconds left was off, but CSUSB had one more attempt at the victory after CSUDH's Kielyn Wilson turned the ball over with five seconds left.
The Coyotes called timeout and when play resumed, Barnes' attempt was off at the buzzer.
CSUSB was 32.7 percent from the field on 17 of 52 shots. But it stayed with the Toros, thanks to hitting 23 of 27 free throws.
Redlands' native Breanne Garcia led the Toros with 16 points.
The Coyotes (4-4, 1-3 CCAA) are off until Jan. 1 when they play host to Cal Poly Pomona.
