Box Score SAN BERNARDINO – Good things tend to happen when Lacy Haddock has the ball.

The senior guard tied his school record with 14 assists and six players, led by senior Andrew Young's 17 points, scored in double figures in the Coyotes' 88-81 victory over visiting Westmont at Coussoulis Arena on Wednesday night.

Haddock helped the Coyotes' cause with 15 points of his own in 40 minutes in a game that saw the Coyotes never trail. Young was 7-of-11 from the field with five rebounds.

Junior guard Juan Martinez had 15 points, while freshman Khleem Perkins had 12 and seniors Kirby Gardner and Joshua Gouch each had 11.

CSUSB gained control of the game over a critical 40-second spurt with 15:49 remaining. Up 49-47, junior Taylor Statham and Perkins hit consecutive 3-pointers and Perkins later added a layup and the Coyotes led 57-47 with 15:09 to go.

A pair of Perkins free throws later gave the Coyotes their largest advantage of the night at 74-61 with 6:30 left.

The transition played a big factor for CSUSB, now 1-1 overall, as the Coyotes forced 24 turnovers and outscored the Warriors 22-12 off miscues.

It also helped that CSUSB has just three second-half turnovers and finished with only 10 in 40 minutes.

Martinez was effective from outside, hitting 3-of-5 3-pointers, while Gardner and Perkins each had two 3s. For the game, CSUSB hit 9-of-23 3-pointers and was 58 percent (7 of 12) in the final half.

C.J. Miller led the Warriors with a game-high 26 points.

CSUSB returns to Coussoulis Arena on Nov. 21 when it takes on UC San Diego in the CCAA opener for both teams.
