Box Score: No. 8 CSUDH 78, Coyotes 65

SAN BERNARDINO --
Coussoulis Arena has been a theater of horrors for visiting Cal State Dominguez Hills through the years.

The No. 8-ranked Toros turned the past aside Friday night and won for the first time ever inside the 15-year old arena and snapped a 17-game losing streak in San Bernardino with a 78-65 win over the Coyotes before a crowd of 757.

The Coyotes (10-8, 8-6 CCAA) were led by senior Corey Caston's 16 points and fellow senior Robbie Robinson added 14 points with four 3-pointers, but this was a night that belonged to the Toros, now 17-2 overall and 13-2 in the CCAA.

The Toros had five players in double figures and were led by Tim McLaurin's 17 points. They shot 30 of 59 from the floor (50.8 percent), hit 9 of 19 3-pointers and outrebounded the Coyotes, 40-31.

McLaurin gave the Toros the lead for good just inside the first five minutes of the game with a jumper at 11-10 with 15:39 left. The Coyotes pulled within four points on senior Ryan Kinney's 3-pointer -- 18-14 -- with 8:38 left, but CSUDH went on an 11-3 run in the next 2-plus minutes and it remained in control for the rest of the game.

CSUDH led 40-31 at the break, and then shot 16 of 29 in the second half from the field and the Coyotes trailed by 20 (74-54) with 6:36 left.

The loss was the largest at home in coach Jeff Oliver's career and is the first time the Coyotes lost by 10 or more since Feb. 25, 2000, when UC Davis defeated the Larry Reynolds-coached Coyotes 73-63 at Coussoulis Arena.

The Coyotes look to snap their three-game losing streak Saturday night when they take on Cal State L.A. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m.
