Box Score

LOS ANGELES — Four players scored in double figures for Cal State San Bernardino and the Coyotes also held Cal State L.A. to just 29.1 percent from the field in a 67-55 win over the Golden Eagles Saturday night.

Corey Caston scored a game-high 13 points, dished out a team-high five assists and pulled down a team-high seven rebounds to lead the Coyotes (17-7, 15-5) while Devon Davis added 11. Aaron Hill and Greg Williams each scored 10 points. Bryan LeDuc chipped in with eight points and six boards.

CSUSB shot 41.1 percent from the field (23-56) and forced the Golden Eagles to go just 16-for-55 from the field and 3-of-16 from beyond the arc.

The Coyotes dominated in the paint, scoring 28 points in the lane compared to just 12 points by CSULA.

After four ties early in the first half, CSUSB broke away with a 9-2 run to lead 17-10, but the Coyotes struggled to pull away in the first half until a 9-0 run capped by a Williams layup gave the Coyotes a 36-24 lead with 2:32 left before intermission. Cal State San Bernardino increased the run to 15-4 to close out the half with the biggest lead of the game at 42-28.

CSUSB led 46-34 in the second half, but a 9-0 run by the Golden Eagles brought CSULA back within one at 46-45, the closest it had been since the 15:41 mark in the first half. That was as close as Cal State L.A. came as the Coyotes responded with a 14-3 run capped by a Davis tip-in and it was all CSUSB from that point on.

That win combined with a Cal State Dominguez Hills loss to Cal Poly Pomona leave the Coyotes in sole possession of third place in the CCAA behind Humboldt State and Pomona who are tied for first just a game ahead of CSUSB.

The Coyotes close out the regular season Thursday and Friday with games against San Francisco State and Cal State Monterey Bay.
