Members of Cal State San Bernardino's 11 athletic teams produced an average grand point average of 2.913 for the Fall Quarter 2008 and 114 student-athletes earned a 3.0 grade average or higher, Athletic Director
Kevin Hatcher announced today.
Of the 114 Coyotes athletes who earned a 3.0 or higher, 53 of them posted grades of 3.5 or higher to earn "Leader of the Pack" awards.
Hatcher said the number of student-athletes who earned 3.0 or higher grades was the most since the department began honoring its top academic performers several years ago.
The women's tennis team earned the “Cody Coyote” Award for having the highest overall team grade point average. The 10 women on the team had an average GPA of 3.555. Tennis earned the honor for the fourth straight quarter.
Women's cross country was second best at 3.191 with nine runners meeting or exceeding the 3.0 standard. Women's basketball finished third at 3.019 with 10 players meeting or exceeding the 3.0 standard. Five of the 114 players had a perfect 4.0 for the quarter.
